Providence is my love.

I'll take a little skyline like this in the morning...

Obsessed with the arches and brilliant use of color on this eye doctor's office..
Precious little family-owned cookie store, prefect for Valentine's Day in Providence

This is Providence. Sophie and I decided to take an impromptu trip down the interstate, leading us to Providence, RI. In the short hours I spent there 3 years ago, I never realized the city's amazing architecture, small boutiques, and specialty restaurants...glorious weather definitely didn't hurt the day trip either. I had been looking to attend RISD before deciding on the Museum School in Boston- I ended up not feeling inspired by the school, more interested in the city. It's cozy and warm, the perfect size of a city, with everything you need from amazing shopping to great unique homes, plus it's on a river in the most beautiful part of the east coast...yes please to all of the above. Free parking, a vibrant art scene, tons of cute Brown boys, and the cutest coffee shops around every corner make this place one to have a family. Sophie and I got into a discussion walking along the river about where we would we have wanted to grow up, urban or rural? City or country? She said country, I said city....go figure. But I think there is a beautiful balance to Providence, not too much city, not too much country. It's small, but not podunky. Mmmm planning my next trip currently.

new obsession

This is breakfast.

Breakfast burritos. I've been making them religiously for the past few weeks, and I am in love. After a morning run, they are the best energizers for the rest of the day. I've been using avocados, unions, mushrooms, peppers...really anything I find looking good at the market. Such a beautiful brunch for my days off. And you can make them in less than 5 mintues.

peace be with you.

This is what I need.
A peace garden. Smack dab in the middle of Boston's Italian district, between canolis and cappuccinos. As simple as a quiet plot of land amongst the frenzy that is the North End. Nothing glorious, besides the oddly placed statues and their awkward presence in the space as a group of caretakers. Not a single person walked in while I was moseying around, more people tended to stare as I was exiting...more like, "What the hell was she just doing in there?" type of stares. Who the hell cares. We could all use a good escape every now and then in the city, although it maybe just be right outside the walls of absolute chaos.

"When the world says, "Give up," Hope whispers, "Try it one more time."

This is life.

"This is when the magic happens: right when you feel like everything is going wrong,
shift your attitude to accept that it's actually going right. Our judgments of how
we think our life should be are preventing us from reaching our Highest Potential.
If you're going through a storm, hold the belief that it's the perfect storm for
you to be going through and that you've been given everything you need to weather
the storm. When the chaos subsides you will experience the Truth that is forever
true; you are always taken care of, exactly where you need to be and your efforts
are rewarded exactly when they need to be. Remember this Truth the next time a storm
is on the horizon and you will grow wings and be able fly right over it and towards
the calm waters of Trust and Love."

Cantaloupes and Carrots

This is the market.

Quite possibly one of most hectic and fast-paced places on earth on a Saturday morning. Right by the water in the North End/Faneuil Hall area, growers set up their produce and the people flood in. Even in the dead of winter at 22 degrees, the place is packed with foodies, tourists, children, locals, chefs, and everyone in between. Nothing better than produce right from the growers themselves. In the summer, there is fresh pineapple, mangoes, watermelon, and berries galore. Yes please. You can buy a weeks worth of the freshest food in the city.

the little things

This was a good moment.

Some of my favorite moments are strangely fantastical. They come out of nowhere and unless you have a watchful eye, they can go right past you. Moments of magical color, moments of child-like playfulness, moments of pure bliss.

I am a graduate.

This is a goodbye.
I cleaned out my studio today. One of the most surreal moments of my life thus far. I can honestly say it was calming at the time, yet the after effects were not what I had expected. This is the first time I am moving out, and not going anywhere else. My studio is now packed up into plastic bins and blue Ikea bags, and will be shoved into a zipcar and shlepped into the basement of my apartment. The search for a new, post-graduation, inexpensive artist studio begins now. It's the first time I actually feel like I am no longer in school, bittersweet to say the least. But don't worry, new projects are underway...new projects in my apartment, minus the paint.
